Water, electricity, gas
and telephone rates
- Water rates
Tap water: 1.10 yuan/cubic meter is charged by the Shanghai Water Supply Company for non-household customers like hotels and enterprises. Sewage fee is charged additionally at the same time.
Ten times the
above-mentioned price is charged on excess consumption beyond the planned
amount.
Engineering cost:
1.Connection cost: The total
cost for channeling water from the trunk pipe to customer water meter.
2.Cost for
laying pipes: Cost of engineering in laying pipes where municipal works such s
road building is involved.
The property
right of water pipes and relevant facilities and installations belongs to the
water supply departments.
Maintenance cost is to be charged
on water supply installations for fire-extinguishing purposes that are located
on the property of the customer.
Sewage drainage cost: 0.70 yuan/cubic meter
- Any organization that drains sewage and wastewater into sewage facilities must pay sewage drainage cost. The Shanghai Water Supply Company is authorized by the Shanghai Sewage Drainage Company to collect the sewage drainage cost while the discharge cost for underground water and tap water is paid to the Shanghai Sewage Drainage Company.
- The drainage volume of an enterprise is calculated as 90% of its total water consumption. But the water content in products or volume of vaporized water is deducted from the total water consumption for enterprises predominantly using water as raw materials or involving a high water-vaporizing production process and the difference is used as the base figure when calculating the drainage volume. The discharge of sewage and wastewater (of an enterprise) is subject to supervision by the administrative department in charge of municipal engineering.

- Gas Rates
1. The pressure of gas in the pipes is normally above 1,200 PA, with the heat value at 14.63 – 15.88 mega-joule/cubic meter.
2. The
engineering cost incurred in channeling gas from existing network to customer’s
gas meter is to be borne by the customer while the property right belongs to
the gas company.
3.An additional 0.60 yuan is
charged on each cubic meter beyond the use limit.
