By the end of 2001, there were 639 real estate businesses in the Pudong New Area with total assets amounting to RMB232.21 billion. From 1990 to 2001, the aggregate investment in fixed assets by these businesses totaled RMB115.92 billion, accounting for over 30% of the total investment in fixed assets in the Pudong New Area. In 2001, the increase in value of the real estate sector in Pudong was RMB6.74 billion, accounting for 6.7% of Pudong’s GDP.

Over the past eleven years, a total of 51.27 million sq. m. of floor space has been developed.

Sale and rent of buildings in the Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone

In Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone, 621 buildings with a total floor space of 14.22 million sq. m. have been constructed and completed. The current occupancy rate is 81.5%.

  • Lujiazui Central Business District

Lujiazui Central Business District hosts mainly overseas financial institutions. By the end of 1998, 14 buildings have been built here. Current occupancy rate (let out, sold and set aside for own use) has reached 61.4%.

  • New Shanghai Commercial City

New Shanghai Commercial City is one of the busiest business centers of Pudong with a dense flow of people and goods. The sixteen office buildings now house over 700 companies that engage in such fields as commerce, trade, finance and industry. The occupancy rate is 69.7%.

  • Zhuyuan Commerce and Trade Center

The construction of Century Avenue and the settlement here of the Merchandise Exchange have speeded up the development of Zhuyuan Commerce and Trade Center. According to statistics, 26 buildings have been completed with a total floor space of 353,000 sq. m. now being let out or sold. The occupancy rate (let out, sold and set aside for own use) of the above-mentioned buildings is 59.1%.

  • Buildings of Ministries and Commissions of the Central Government

By the end of 1998, the number of buildings developed by ministries and commissions of the State Council had reached 67. Thirty-five of them, with a floor space of 1.2 million sq. m. have been built. Their occupancy rate (let out, sold and set aside for own use) is 57.8%.

  • Buildings developed by other provinces and municipalities

The total number is 35. Fifteen have been built, providing floor space of 530,000 sq. m.. The occupancy rate (let out, sold and set aside for own use) is 56.7%.
